2012 Chicago Actors Resource Guide eBook
Since 1980, more than 1100 feature films and television shows have shot in Chicago distributing $2 billion in local proceeds. Chicago draws in hundreds of locally produced independent films, commercials and photo shoots each year that are produced for both national and international clients. This growth industry provides quality jobs for thousands of Chicago residents and creates opportunities for hundreds of local businesses. Chicago further fostered its new production boom with the passage of an Illinois bill in 2009. This bill provides a 30% tax credit on all production costs within the State of Illinois. Since instituting this law in 2009, many filmmakers have committed to Chicago for production.
